Pottery

It is traditionally a woman’s craft in Zimbabwe, where every rural homestead will have the hand-built pots which are used each day for cooking, serving traditional beer, storing and carrying water. The colours of the burned pots range from a rich ochre through terracotta to biscuit, with patterns incised and sometimes highlighted with powdered limestone. The range is as follows:
